Extradition, surrender and mutual legal assistance

Borders are dissolving. Increasingly, States harmonise their policies on investigation and prosecution. International co-operation between police and judicial authorities is constantly being intensified. Both private individuals and entrepreneurs may experience the consequences, such as apprehension in the Netherlands at the request of foreign authorities, for the purpose of extradition, or (within the EU) surrender. During subsequent court proceedings our advocates regularly assist clients opposing unvoluntary transfer abroad.

At the client's request, other forms of interstate co-operation (e.g. mutual legal assistance in criminal matters) can be investigated and, if and when necessary, contested by our advocates as well. For instance, search and seizure at the premises of private individuals, corporations, banks or tax advisers at the request of foreign authorities. International proceedings towards asset forfeiture can also be reviewed by the members of our team.
