Hans de Jong joined our firm in April 2000 and practices from our offices in Rotterdam. He became partner on 1 January 2006. He mainly deals with cases involving economic and tax crime, including customs fraud and Motor Vehicle Tax matters. He acts for many companies in the Europoortgebied (Port of Rotterdam) during criminal and administrative law inquiries relating to the environment, working conditions and industrial injuries. He formulates tailor-made procedures for the reception of the authorities within companies. He maps out liability under criminal law, also with respect to company directors. Finally, he traditionally handles many Road Traffic Act cases, particularly those in which professional drivers are being accused of criminally negligent homicide, and also alcohol and speed related cases.
Before joining our firm, he worked for the Legal Aid Board in Rotterdam. He held various additional positions: a.o. at Victim Support Netherlands, the Supervisory Committee of a penitentiary, and as internal president of the Coornhert Liga for criminal law reform. He has various publications on criminal law to his name.
Mr. De Jong is a member of the Dutch Association of Defence Counsel and of Deltalinqs, which looks after the mutual interests of the logistics and industrial companies in the Rotterdam port and industrial area.
He studied in Tilburg and speaks English and French.
