Financial criminal law

This is an area of law focussing on the integrity of the financial market. One of the laws pertaining to the financial sector is for instance the Securities Transactions Supervision Act (including the provisions on insider trading).

Criminal sanctioning of the majority of financial legislation is covered in the Economic Offences Act. Thus, financial criminal law is in fact part of the rules and regulations, which together constitute economic criminal law.

In this area of law, our firm's advocates were successfully involved in several high profile cases on insider trading; in the notorious HCS case our client was acquitted after having won the appeal to the Supreme Court, and in the Clickfonds case charges were eventually dropped.

One of our partners will be happy to supply you with additional information.
