ICT criminal law

In recent years, the number of cases involving computer-related crime has shown a sizeable increase. Typical offences are hacking (unauthorized terminal access), spreading viruses and forging computer data. Furthermore, computers are often used as a means for traditional offences, such as infringement upon copyrights, extortion, threats and libel. Investigation services too, often use digital technology. In almost every major investigation, data flows are tapped and attempts are made to retrieve ‘deleted’ data from computers. The Internet has no boundaries. Internationalisation also brings forth specific legal problems. All of this results in a growing need for legal assistance by our advocates, who knows their way around computer-related crime. Of course, external experts may be approached in order to provide technical support.
